River
Lee, Cork City
Cork
is Ireland's southern capital, lying on the divided waters of the River
Lee at the head of the great tidal expanse of Cork Harbour, at the centre
of Ireland's southern coast. It is Ireland's second largest city with
a population of 136,000. A vibrant yet hugely historical city, numerous
shopping centres, with the creme de la creme of Irish and international
produce, are all within walking distance of the Arbutus Lodge Hotel.
The
following table shows the distance between Cork and Ireland's other major
centers.
The Cork region offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a great range
of diverse scenery, culture, and leisure activities. Many of Ireland's
greatest heritage and tourist attractions are within easy touring distance
of the hotel. Cork also has everything for the sportsman, with eight beautiful
golf courses within an eight mile radius, first-class fishing, inshore
and deep-sea, and superb yachting facilities all nearby. Numerous hunter
trials, horseracing and point to point fixtures are held in the hinterland.
Mallow's spectacular race course is just 20 minutes away.
